The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta is the premier classic sailing event of the Caribbean attracting a large number of classics every year from all around the world. In its 35th edition this year, the event enjoys a wonderful variety of competitors including traditional craft from the islands, vintage and classic ketches, sloops, schooners and yawls making the bulk of the fleet along with the more newly-built Spirit of Tradition yachts and Modern Classics”, as the Regatta team announces.

GETTING INVOLVED

Offered for charter through Ocean Independence, two magnificent sister ships from ARK Yachts are participating in the event. Spanning 54 metres, these vessels boast an impressive 1000m² of sail area, making them some of the most visually stunning and competitive yachts available to charter for the event.

TIME TO GO RACING
Warm up for the main event with a day of practice sailing on board CHRONOS or RHEA. This pre-event practice offers participants the opportunity to understand their duties, acquaint themselves with the crew, and grasp the regatta’s structure. As dusk falls, immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle in Nelson’s Dockyard where sailors and Owners worldwide converge in the breathtaking marina, celebrating one of the year’s most anticipated yachting events.
Over the next four days you’ll participate in the racing on board your charter yacht, CHRONOS or RHEA. With a new course being set each day the races take place in the morning just outside Falmouth Harbour so plenty of spectators can enjoy the sight of these magnificent sailing yachts doing battle form the shore.
After racing, guests can either enjoy lunch on board or return to the harbour to spend the afternoon as they please. The event is extremely convivial and there are several social events should guests wish to join in and meet other yachting enthusiasts. The week culminates with a prize giving and spectacular celebrations in Nelson’s Dockyard which mark the end of this amazing regatta.
But never forget the motto: “Everything can, nothing must.” You can assist in steering, trimming the sails and supporting the crew in all sailing activities. Equally, if you prefer, simply relax and take in the stunning spectacle of the yachts racing and the vibrant atmosphere of this exceptional event.
